How we write about payments

TruPay publishes guides on merchant fees, card surcharges, PayTo and Pay by Bank. This page explains how that content is produced and what it is not.

General information, not advice

Content published on this site is general information only. It does not constitute financial, legal, accounting or tax advice, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who understands your specific circumstances.

How we handle figures and estimates

Where we publish example calculations — such as illustrative merchant fee costs or calculator outputs — we clearly label them as estimates and explain the assumptions behind them. See our methodology page for the specific formulas used in our payment cost calculator.

Regulatory and industry changes

Payments regulation in Australia is evolving, including changes to card surcharging and interchange fees. We aim to keep our guides current, but rules can change after publication. Always confirm the current rules that apply to your business with your payment provider or a qualified adviser before making a decision based on anything published here.

Our commercial interest

TruPay is a payments company. We write about merchant fees and account-to-account payment methods because they are directly relevant to the product we are building, and we are transparent about that interest throughout this site. Where a guide compares payment methods, we aim to describe how each one works accurately rather than overstating the benefits of any one option.
